Auckland Moots RSL owner reacts.
“Thanks from Todd, with first ride goose bumps”. Nice from a man who knows fine metal work!
Parlee Z5 Sli impresses the locals
First local delivery to Gisbourne rider Peter who will use on his regular commute to Melbourne.
Parlee – riding is believing!
The owner of this freshly built Z5 dropped in yesterday and the conversation was brief and went like this:
“buying this was a leap of faith. Every Parlee owner I spoke to raved about their bikes to the point where I was a bit sceptical – can it really be that good?
Well my first reaction to the bike is that this is rediculous – in a good way! It does everything well and now I am one those who can’t stop talking about it!”
Parlee Z5 Small with SRAM Red, custom wheels featuring King hubs and HED C2 rims.
That will do nicely.
Meet the Parlee Z-Zero
Parlee has just taken the game up several notches with today’s release of the their new range topping, full custom Z-Zero frame set.
With custom moulded uni directional tubes for each customer built combined with Parlee’s unique jointing wrap methodology the result is an enhancement in every attribute attribute of the previous top of the line Z1 custom.
On display at the show are a road bike and a disc equipped cyclocross CX both of which feature Parlee’s own new fork design.
The enhanc
Ed construction methods result in a significantly reduced lug profile and smoother transition to the tubes.
There is a much stiffer bob unit which features greater chain stay spacing all in lifetime warranties frames that start from around 750gms!!!
Capo Pink Parlee
This Parlee Z5 was done for this show with an Italian theme with simple, tight design brief from Parlee’s kit partner Capo.
A simple but bold statement.
Parlee Z3 – naked elegance
Just landed for delivery in the morning, this EPS ready naked frame has the shimmer and the texture of a fresh stick of drawing charcoal. Intriguing from any and every angle….
Crankstar delivers yet another Parlee Z1
More detail about this build and Crankstar – Brisbane’s home of cycling excellence, follow this link: /www.crankstar.com.au/?p=882
Parlee Z1 – good as gold
On its way to Adelaide shortly. Clear over carbon with just the gold classic downtube logos. Elegant.
Pat’s new Moots CR
One ride was all it took for the smile to appear and the order to follow…..
Two days after delivery a succinct message arrived…
“Been out three times on the bike, incredible riding experience.“
That will do!
Z3 Pretty in Pink
Parlee’s Z3 with some subtle and some not quite so subtle pick highlights, Ultegra Di2 and robust wheels affords the perfect platform for future upgrades for this lady with a strong determination and lazer focus. Soon to be seen on roads just about anywhere in the world.
Some first bike really !
Stock Parlee Z5 – another theme
Perhaps an alternative is to take the red highlights and run with it. Ritchey Wet Red post/stem/bar…? Deda 35 with red highlights..? a set of Campy or Fulcrum wheels with red accents…. saddle and tape…your choice.
Parlee Z5 – one view, one build
A nicely understated view with 2012 SRAM Red which looks like it is colour coded to the frame and “unchallenged” by the black/grey/white of the other components.
6.80kg on the button ready to race.
All that glitters…IF SSR
The devil is in the detail! A work in progress with a vexing decision around the “right” wheel choice being the final step to completion.
Mitch’s just reward!
The crucial moment came about 35 kms out from Falls Creek. As we drove past Nick he looked the worse for wear but responded he was fine and then shouted “I’ll have the red one!” The deal was done.
Mitch’s incentive for the 2012 3 Peaks was that if he was first home he could have his choice of any bike in the shop. Over the preceding weeks he had done a few road tests and was torn for choice across various Moots, IF and Parlee models but in the end it was the SunGraphics finish on this Parlee Z3 that swayed him.
Now with the new SRAM red, Thomson post and stem and fast set of custom built wheels it will be hard to get it off him!
Time to do another design.
Next stop for both is Italy next week on a Cadence Tours Giro adventure.
Crankstar does “individual” in style
Our Brisbane retail partner, Steve at Crankstar in Camp Hill, continues to shine in consistently delivering outstanding individual bikes to his clients.
Here are three teasers from his Blog which can be found here at www.crankstar.com.au Enjoy!
Moots Vamoots RSL owner response
This is the unedited first ride reaction from the owner of this bike. Developed as an everyday day commuter in the Adelaide environs, it features Super Record with Rotor 3D cranks and a set of custom wheels built around the HED C2 rims, TUNE skewers and MOOTS “tuned” King cages:
“After reading glowing reviews, talking with friends and yourself about the Moots RSL I had built within my mind an expectation that was impossible to match.
Well ,I just got of the bike and it is going to be a long time before this smile goes.
This bike is so beyond expectation to suspect it is other-worldly. It is an enigma. Razor sharp yet butter soft, rigid yet compliant, light yet so planted. In essence it is everything you wish it to be without any of the compromises one would expect.
Truly amazing.“
With sustained feedback like this it is no wonder the RSL has a rapidly expanding fan club across Australia and New Zealand and around the globe.
Upgrade to RSL done!
The finish article below had its “Hell Ride” debut on saturday and the owner’s initial feedback by email was:
“Have just got home after riding the Moots, it is fantastic…. responsive and light all in all magnificent.
I’m going to enjoy riding this baby.”
A Compressed Parlee experience!
So you spend time rationalising the purchase of your first Parlee – a recently discontinued Z4 in the classic blue.
You build it with a tasty, balanced spec with a few bits of bling.
You take it for 3 rides and you love it, “just love it – the best bike by far I have ridden” – bliss.
Then “some devil” presents you with the opportunity to upgrade to an internally routed naked/etched Z1.
What would you do?
You would jump, and he did – upgrade in progress!
Parlee “Veyron SS”
Finally finished with the Busyman bar tape, Campy Super Record, Clavicula Cranks, 3T Stealth bar and Stem (and ultimately seat post) and custom painted rims (if you hadn’t noticed!). Light and distinctive.
How do you measure your race bike?
Do you assess your bike in terms of frames per season or seasons of sustained performance per frame?
When you “ride a bit”, “race a bit” and love to have a real go… what you expect to do with your bike after a solid 2 years and countless kms?
Replace it? Repair it? or can you just touch up the paint and strap on your ” RIDEWISER legs” and give it another season of flogging? and another…and another…..
PARLEE Z3 product proving rob@ridewiser style!
Thanks to PARLEE for the bike, Rob Crowe for the output and Aaron Upson for a great photo!
Coming along Nicely
Saddle done and the detail corrected on the otherwise delightful finish on the 3T Team “Black” bar.
Now to pick a groupset while waiting for the matching 3T post and then finish off with some custom leather from Busyman.
Z5 SLi out and about
The first in the country is out in the Dandenongs this morning, so we look forward to the owner’s feedback.
The bike features Di2, ROTOR Cranks and Rings, ENVE cockpit and Ventoux’ and is a “very comfortable weight”.
IF Crown Jewel XS – on sebatical
Missing in action and last seen at Bright in the company of a fan of the local brewery. Got a note saying “Love this bike will bring it back….eventually!”
A classic bike doesn’t age….the rider? Well that’s not how he felt late on the sunday of ToB.
